Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML)
The Lutheran Womens Missionary League is an organization of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod dedicated to providing Lutheran women Bible Study and service work for their Lord Jesus. We are best known for our abbreviation LWML. All women of the Missouri Synod are eligible to be part of LWML. LWML nationally has a budget of over $1.8 million biannually for mission work around the world. This is all donated by women using their Mite Boxes of dimes, nickels, pennies. Whatever they can donate just as the Widow in the Bible, gave her Mite. LWML is divided into Districts. We are in the Washington/Alaska District and do our own mission projects in addition to those of national.
LWML is then subdivided into societies within individual congregations. Here at Redeemer we have named our society THE LYDIA GUILD. As a society, we hold a meeting once a month on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM. We open with a refreshment time and then hold a short business meeting and close with a Bible Study or a special project. Some of the special projects that we do each year include sending care packages to our college and military folks in the winter, collecting items for Union Gospel Mission and for Hospice among many others.
We encourage all women, from high school to great grandmothers to join us as we work together to
“SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS, GLORIFY HIS NAME.”
